LifeStriders is putting together their 2014 Social Skills schedule. These fun, interactive groups are for children ages 5 to 18 with challenges that affect their interpersonal relationships and abilities to read social cues. Generally grouped by age or “best fit”, participants meet weekly in small group setting with individualized experiential activities designed to increase their proficiency and comfort with appropriate social skills. Groups provide additional opportunities to learn and practice nonverbal and social interaction. LifeStriders is looking forward to making great strides with you and your families this year, and we hope you are as excited about all the possibilities as we are!
Miracle on Canal Street is Potawatomi Bingo Casino's Signature community program that raises funds for children's charities - and LifeStriders is in the running to be a beneficiary.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Miracle program that has raised more than $12.5 million for hundreds of area children's charities. The program began as a way to carry on the Potawatomi tradition of nurturing younger generations so they grow to lead healthy, productive lives. Half of each $3 Miracle Bingo game purchased goes to the Miracle fund, which totaled nearly $1 million last year! Give the gift of a promising future by playing the Miracle Bingo game now through December 12. Visit paysbig.com/miracle to learn more.

Dear Friends of LifeStriders,
“Therapeutic riding at LifeStriders helps to loosen up her muscles,
giving her mobility, confidence and freedom.”
These words are from Amelia’s mother, another grateful parent who has experienced the benefits of having their loved one enrolled in The Therapeutic Riding Program at LifeStriders, in the Milwaukee Metro area. Amelia is 9 years old and is a child with severe Cerebral Palsy.
“Amelia loves horseback riding and now horses are her sport, just like other kids who play basketball, for example.”
To Amelia, LifeStriders is her gym, her field, her playground, her activity, her adventure land. It is a place for her to learn, to socialize, to rise above her challenges, to stand tall with friends, to experience nature, to feel compassion, and to heal. When you meet Amelia, you see that she thanks us every day with her beautiful smile and spirit, as she bravely overcomes life challenges that many of us will never know. We all feel very lucky to have her in our lives.
“When I started at LifeStriders, nearly 7 years ago, I had this silly notion that I was going to do a service by volunteering to help children with special needs. I say silly because so many of those children, their families, and other volunteers have touched my soul and filled my heart far more than I could have ever imagined.” – Lori Voecks - Program Manager
Today, there are over 100 volunteers, 4 full time and 3 part time staff making this experience possible for Amelia and the now 90+ special needs individuals that LifeStriders is serving every week. LifeStriders gives 5 times the number of therapeutic lessons that it gave two years ago, thanks to your continued support.
During this season of giving, and in recognition of the staff and volunteers that give their hearts and precious time to making all the programming at LifeStriders work every day, for Amelia and all those with special needs, please consider making a tax deductible donation to LifeStriders(501c3). LifeStriders is debt free and 100% community owned. 100% of your donation will go towards enabling the creative, compassionate, and professional therapeutic programming at LifeStriders. Happy Holidays and thank you so much for your support.
