Hannah Spear's Outstanding Fundraiser

At LifeStriders we have the opportunity to see miracles happen every week. We see our dedicated volunteers come together to help others in so many ways; by sidewalking, mentoring and helping us fund raise. In the last few months one young volunteer by the name of Hannah Spear has gone above and beyond the call of duty- not only does she volunteer on the farm, but when she heard that we needed to boost our rider scholarship fund she took it upon herself to help our cause. She set up a booth outside Sentry of Delafield and the Wales Pic'n Save, approached shoppers and handed out information about the work we do here. She inspired people to donate close to $850.00!!

Her efforts will go towards subsidizing the cost of lessons for families in need and will have a lasting impact on the lives of children and adults with special needs in out community. On behalf of all the families and riders, we THANK YOU!!!

Have you Noticed how Nice Our Horses Hooves Look?

Our horses hooves have never looked this good at this tricky time in the Spring, and we would like to give the credit to our wonderful Farrier:

Monica Meer CP, ESMT, NAAC
(Certified Practitioner, Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist, Certified Nutraceutical and Anti Aging Consultant)

Monica's business is called The Natural Hoof and she has a unique and seemingly excellent approach to taking care of horses. She has been a great help to LifeStriders since starting with us this winter and we are very lucky to have her keep our horses feet in top shape for all of our riders. We would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for professional hoof care, and we thank her for the excellent care she takes of our animals.

Monica maintains a website with a great deal of information on how to take care of horses, and it would behoove (hehee) anyone who enjoys horses to browse through the wealth of information on it. Thanks Monica!

Participant Absence and Cancellation Policy

LifeStriders believes that riders of all abilities achieve the greatest benefits from consistency in their lessons. To this end, we do our utmost to provide consistent instructors, volunteers and horses for our riders. We serve a significant number of riders each week, and take great efforts to find time slots that best meet your/your child’s needs and volunteers to assist with our therapeutic lessons. As a result, we ask all of our riders to make a commitment to attendance at their lessons for each session that they enroll in. We understand that illnesses and unforeseen circumstances may arise that will necessitate a cancellation in a scheduled lesson.

During each lesson block (spring, summer and fall), LifeStriders will give a credit or a refund (or will attempt to reschedule if possible) one lesson that the rider cancels. We request that you give us 24 hours notice, so that we have adequate time to notify our instructors and our volunteers who assist with lessons. If more than one cancellation occurs during a lesson block, a payment of $20 for the lesson is expected. In the event of cancellation due to inclement weather, or sickness on the part of our instructors or horses, LifeStriders will credit/refund or reschedule any and all of these lessons. Please Note: Any No-Shows (no telephone
call to advise us of a cancellation) will be charged at the full lesson rate.
Thanks!

Host a Birthday Party Fund Raiser - Thank You Braden and Brock Gogin

LifeStriders would like to acknowledge and specially thank two boys that truly have the community at heart this year. Braden and Brock Gogin decided that this year they were going to hold a birthday party with a special twist: instead of having their guests bring presents for them, they requested that their guests make a donation to LifeStriders.

The two brothers invited their friends and successfully fund raised just under $600 to benefit the participants and families of LifeStriders. Everyone here at LifeStriders would like to extend a big thank you to Braden and Brock and your friends and family, for your generous contribution this year.

If you know someone in your family who would like to give back to the community this year, please don't hesitate to call LifeStriders to get details on how to host a birthday party fund raiser!

Noche de Tango Benefit a Success!!

On Saturday, March 10th, 2007 LifeStriders Therapeutic Riding Center hosted its second annual Noche de Tango fundraising event that helps support children, adults and seniors with disabilities. The event was held at Discovery World and catered by the wonderful people at Bartolotta’s. The evening was filled with the romantic sounds of Tangata’s Quartet who performed live while Tango Elixir performed and gave all of the guests a chance to learn the passion of the Argentine Tango.

Thanks to the generous corporate sponsor donations from M&I bank, the Mayer Family Foundation and Electronic Expeditors we were able to raise funds and continue to offer support services for individuals with special needs in our community.

Christopher Pequet and Nicole Neidinger received the annual LifeStriders of the Year Awards that recognizes their amazing personal successes in the program. In addition, 15 volunteers were also recognized for their exceptional contributions to LifeStriders and for earning the nationally recognized Presidential Service Award.

LifeStriders is grateful to all the local businesses and artists that donated items for the silent auction and to all the attendees that helped make the event a total success.
