December 12, 2014
Dear Friends of LifeStriders,
With the holidays upon us and gratitude in our hearts, we are honored to ask for your generous support of LifeStriders.
For 10 years, LifeStriders has transformed the lives of thousands of people with special needs, including adults, senior citizens, veterans and children. Liam is one of these children, and his mom agrees that miracles happen here:
“We came to LifeStriders seeking therapeutic riding for our son to help with his muscle coordination, his focus, and impulsivity challenges. After just a few months of riding, his core strength noticeably increased so that he was able to sit still in a chair for 20 minutes for the first time, and he now takes full strides, no more tiptoe walking! We are also seeing better concentration and more determination in school.
The staff has worked so well in identifying his challenges and creating a riding plan perfectly catered to him. Perhaps best of all is the simple joy of watching his face light up as soon as we walk into the barn. He adores being here. The connection and love he has with the calm and steady horses, the bright and encouraging staff, and the wonderful volunteers has impacted all of us.” – Ana Nicholson
While our LifeStriders services are rooted in physical, occupational and cognitive behavioral therapy, we go far beyond traditional approaches because the human-horse connection we offer is transformative and inspiring. Liam is just one of our many precious success stories.
This holiday season, your continued financial support will allow us to serve even more people with our compassion and individualized care. A generous gift of $50, $100, or $250 – or the amount that works best for you – is deeply appreciated and will keep the miracles coming for those who need them the most.
Thanks to you, everyone at LifeStriders will ring in the new year with a sense of hope. We appreciate your generosity – it has never been more important to us!
With gratitude and warmest wishes,
Executive Director M.S., LPC
LifeStriders would like to take a moment to thank all our volunteers for their continued support of LifeStriders work. We would like to recognize our Presidential Service Award Winners of 2015. We are always amazed at how LifeStriders seems to have such a positive effect on everyone involved. By volunteering to help out in any way, you are giving back to the community, and enriching yours, and the lives of others.
Thank you everyone!!
We are so proud of LifeStriders and all that it has accomplished in 10 years. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to our Annual Boots and Bling Fundraiser last night. It was a truly magical evening and celebration, and it was made possible by incredible efforts of a core group of volunteers, who gave their time and skills to make the event successful by any measure. More pictures, thank yous, and posts to come. Here is the new headline video from last night.

Zoe, Strider of the Year 2014
Zoe started riding with LifeStriders in 2010 and in this last year we have watched Zoe take some very huge strides towards her goals. At the beginning of the year she was only able to take a few steps at a time on the horse while riding and now she steers Almar around the arena all by herself. Her new found confidence never seems to fail when she faces a challenge, such as moving from a saddle to a bareback pad. We have tested her strength by giving her tasks such as sac-of-potatoes or around the world, and she is able to accomplish anything we threw at her. Zoe, we hope you are as proud of yourself as we all are! Congratulations!!
Hristiyan Murphy, Volunteer of the year 2014
How can we put into words all of our appreciation for our volunteer of the year. Hristiyan, a.k.a. “H”, volunteers his time at LifeStriders at least 3 days a week which has allowed him to build a strong connection with his riders that is heartwarming to watch. H also has an unyielding dedication to the program in all areas that continues to amaze us week after week. We are all honored to have the opportunity to work alongside this AMAZING volunteer that strives to become a better man every day.
Our Volunteers are the heart and soul of our program and we cannot do it without them. Many of them have contributed enough hours to win the prestigious Presidential Volunteer Service Awards in 2014. Congratulations to them and all of the Volunteers who contributed to help someone with special needs this year.
Thank you to all those who donated towards the LifeStriders Tractor on #GivingTuesday and kicked off the #TractorTuesday campaign including:
..and thank you to our generous matching donor, for matching your gifts!
All of you have contributed to make the life of someone with a special need better this year, by enabling LifeStriders with this tractor to take care of the horses and farm. All donors will receive a tax deductible gift confirmation and thank you by email from LifeStriders, for making this magic happen for the organization. Those that donated, and who donate over $100 to this campaign will see their names proudly show up on the tractor hood sometime in January.
This campaign to raise funds for the tractor will remain open, and any donations towards the tractor in December over $100 will be added to the tractor hood in January. We are honored to serve such a generous community. Thank you for you your support.
Enter your donation amount towards the tractor, and your donation will be matched (x2), thanks to a generous donor.
$10 = $20,
$100 = $200
$1500 = $3000
$2500 = $5000
LifeStriders has been operating for 10 years on the back of a small rebuilt ATV and a tired 2wd tractor that breathed its last breath over the summer, and has been put out to pasture (literally). The ATV is showing signs of needing to be rebuilt again, and we cannot operate without a way to get FOOD to our therapeutic angels, and dispose of their waste throughout the winter.
This month, it became necessary to acquire a tractor, and a generous donor has stepped up to help support the effort, but has asked for your help in matching their contribution.
...and this is where you come in:
In the month of December, for every dollar donated to LifeStriders towards the purchase of this much needed tractor, a donor will match it with an equal contribution (up to $12,000), making your:
$10 = $20,
$100 = $200
$1500 = $3000
$2500 = $5000
