Ranger

Name:
Ranger
Foaled:
1985
Breed:
Quarter Horse
Sex:
Gelding
Color:
Dark Bay
Height:
14.3
Came to LifeStriders:
8/5/2005
Story:
Ranger was the third horse to join the LifeStriders team and was generously donated by Mary Puhl of Eagle, WI. He was trained as a cutting horse and also used as a trail and lesson horse before being formally adopted by LifeStriders. He was the first male to join the team and loved being the center of Hazel and Ellie's attention. His disposition is calm and cool and is known to love being brushed and doted over so much that he will fall asleep standing up! However, he is also one of the most well trained and alert horses we have ever worked with. He naturally tries to figure out patterns in the arena and loves be the leader on a trail ride. He has figured out ways to get to the greener grass on the other side of the fence and does it without breaking any fence lines. As amazed as we were at first by all of his talents, we always have to think one step ahead of him.

Axel
Foaled:
4/24/1991
Breed:
Arabian
Sex:
Gelding
Color:
Bay w/ snip
Height:
14
Came to LifeStriders:
4/28/2007
Story:
Axel joined the LifeStriders Team in April of 2007 and was generously donated by Megan Kucharik. His small stature and willingness to please makes Axel a favorite among our younger riders because he does not seem intimidating at all. In his past, Axel was put up for adoption because of family divorce and neglect. He had to overcome many challenges and learn to trust people again but between Megan's love and training and all the love and attention that Axel gets at LifeStriders, he has truly blossomed into a great therapy horse who brings so much happiness to children in our community.

Came to LifeStriders: 5/15/2005

Story: Hazel was the first horse to join the LifeStriders team. Hazel was generously donated by Niki and Pam Ransom after being accepted into our program and going through the 3 month training period. She took to her job right away and loves being the "Queen Bee" of the farm. Although she was orriginally bred for racing, Hazel excelled in 4th level dressage and hunter jumper competitions. Her calm and confident disposition makes her an excellent therapy horse and works well with all different types of riders. She is very eager to please and a pleasure to ride. As the alpha mare, one can see that she is a natural born leader and a true Lifestriders Champion!

Came to LifeStriders:

Story: Oscar joined the LifeStriders Therapy team in September of 2006. In his past, Oscar worked as a lesson horse with children and adults in Eagle, Wisconsin and was trained in english and western. He was purchased for LifeStriders by the Brookfield Rotary in 2006 and has been used primarily as an Equine Mental Health Partner. He enjoys the challenges presented by advanced riders and when something strikes him as particularly interesting he makes a funny snorting/purring sound. We think that over time Oscar will be used with a larger client base but we are letting him phase into his preferred style since he is still the baby of the herd!

Story:
Jesse was the forth horse to join the LifeStriders Team. He was genreously donated by Eric Henning from Marshfield, WI. Previously, Jessy had been trained in western and dressage and was quite accomplished except for the fact that he wasn't really into the competitive thing. He loves to relax and tends to be a slow mover.Jessy is the only Lifestriders horse that hums a funny tune when he is enjoying an activity. Jessy has a gentle and curious spirit. He likes to check out what everyone is doing and might even nibble on the back of your neck or play with your hair if he doesn't think you are too involved in a task at hand and not playng with him. He also loves being the center of human attention. if two people are trying to have a conversation out in the middle of a pasture, he will position himself between them to make sure one, if not both people are petting him. Yes, he knows how gorgeous he is!
